Telegram is becoming an increasingly popular app on all mobile devices. But like any app on your phone or iPad, it’s possible to either delete it yourself by accident, or having someone else gain unauthorized access to your device and delete it themselves.
There is a setting on Apple mobile devices that offers some level of protection against this. You can enable a setting to prevent apps from being deleted on your iPhone/iPad, so Telegram (or any other app) cannot be deleted while this setting is toggled on.
Here’s how you enable this setting to prevent Telegram being deleted:
- Go to Settings on your iPhone
- Tap Screen Time
- Tap Contact & Privacy Restrictions and toggle the setting on
- Tap Deleting Apps
- Select Don’t Allow
And that’s really it. This provides at least a layer of protection against the app being deleted on that device. To fully delete the app, someone would need to enter any passwords/unlock patterns, disable this setting, and then delete the app. So it’s a good protection against accidental deletion especially.
However, this setting does NOT protect against Apple themselves deleting an app on their Store (there have been rumblings about them doing this or being pushed to do this several times before with Telegram). It just maintains the app on your device.
