How To Delete All YouTube Comments You’ve Ever Made (Bulk Delete)

The ability to engage and interact with others on YouTube can be a great feature sometimes, but also a downside with the squabbling that sometimes goes on in comments sections. Some people get tired of the conflict and negativity and would rather delete all their comments for a fresh start.

Other people might just want to disappear off all social media and remove any trace of themselves, including comments. Can you do this on YouTube? Is it possible to delete all comments you’ve ever made on YouTube all in one go?

The short answer is yes! Whilst YouTube themselves sometimes delete comments from users, It is also possible for users to bulk delete all YouTube comments from their account settings, though it’s important to realize this step is permanent and irreversible.

You need to navigate though a few menu pages but it’s not too hard. Here are the quick steps:

  1. Load up your YouTube homepage when signed in.
  2. Go to History on the left hand side menu
  3. Under Manage all history….click Comments
  4. A list of all historical comments and replies appears
  5. Click on the X icon next to each day or comment to bulk delete all comments

Now let’s cover the process in more detail with screenshots.

Option #1 – Manually Bulk Deleting All Comments (Illustrated Steps)

There is an option within your YouTube settings to view all comments you’ve made on videos, historically, and delete any and all of them as you wish.

Here’s how you do this:

Step #1 – On your YouTube homepage, make sure you are logged in and click on History on the left hand sidebar menu:

Step #2 – On the new page that loads, click on Comments down at the bottom:

A long list of all historical comments and replies, sorted by day and the most recent first, will appear. There is a X symbol next to each individual comment where you can delete it permanently from YouTube.

This is where the hard work comes in – you will need to go through each comment one by one, and clicking on the X next to each comment, in order to delete it from YouTube permanently. You can also use the X next to each day’s activity to bulk delete comments for that day.

It may sometimes take a few hours for comments to disappear.

Here’s another way to arrive at this same historical comments screen:

  1. Click on your YouTube account icon in the top right corner
  2. Go to Your data in YouTube
  3. Under Google-wide Controls…. Web & App Activity, click See & Delete
  4. Click on Other Activity
  5. Scroll down to Comments on YouTube
  6. Click on View Comments
  7. Click on the X icon next to each day or comment to bulk delete all comments

Depending on how long you’ve been using YouTube, and how many comments you’ve made, this can take a while, but it’s theoretically possible to keep going until you manually delete every single comment you’ve ever made.

If this is a bit too much messing around for you, there is a more nuclear option…..

Option #2 – Delete or Hide Your YouTube Account

A more drastic but ultimately quicker way of bulk deleting all your past YouTube comments is to simply delete your YouTube account entirely, which does also remove all comments you’ve posted, plus other activity, as well.

Again, this is best done on desktop YouTube. Here’s the process:

Step #1 – Open your YouTube homepage when signed in, and scroll right down to Settings, towards the bottom of the left hand sidebar menu:

Step #2 – On the new left hand sidebar menu that appears, click on Advanced at the bottom, and then a Delete Channel option appears right down at the bottom:

Once you click on Delete channel, you will usually have to re-enter your password to proceed.

Step #3 – Two options now appear – to hide your channel or delete your channel. You can click on each option to see the detail of what’s deleted with each option, and how to proceed:
